Job Description

Our public sector client is currently looking for an Application Support DBA to work on onsite in Leeds.

Application Support DBA - Oracle - Leeds - 3 year Fixed Term - Up to 39K

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing 2nd and 3rd line support for database issues in production environments;
  • Installing and upgrading Oracle databases and management tools;
  • Manage routine backups of Oracle databases to adequately protect data;
  • Working with the teams across the IT Service, such as the Application
  • Development and the Test teams, to support project enhancement delivery and
  • ensuring non-production databases are populated with appropriate test data;
  • Database performance monitoring, capacity planning and disaster recovery planning;
  • Working alongside Enterprise Architects to help develop, define and maintain a database strategy;
  • Providing specialist advice where necessary with regards to Oracle to help meet business needs;
  • Creating, managing and coordinating maintenance tasks, checking database monitoring tools for errors or alerts;
  • Building and maintaining good relationship with internal and external customers and technical partners to ensure the delivery of a high level of service;
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the team knowledge base and sharing of expertise across the team and with colleagues across IT.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Experience of Oracle Database management and administration within Unix/Linux environments;
  • Experience of providing a 2nd or 3rd line Oracle DBA support function;
  • Experience of support and managing MySQL/MariaDB/Percona databases;
  • Experience of success in building and developing partnerships and working effectively in co-operation with a wide range of customers and suppliers;
  • An ability to explain technical problems in non-technical language;
  • Strong initiative, with excellent organisational, planning and self-management skills, including the ability to work accurately and carefully, manage and complete projects to deadlines and deliver high quality work;
