Business Intelligence (BI) Business Analyst - EDINBURGH

Our Edinburgh based client has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Business Analyst.

The experienced Business Intelligence Analyst, comfortable with guiding clients through the process of eliciting reporting requirements for both operational and analytical purposes.

Must have Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience of Apex development
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of SQL and PL/SQL development
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of ETL development
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of Data Analysis
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of Data Modelling for relational systems and reporting systems
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of Oracle Forms & Reports development
  • Minimum of 5 years experience of Oracle Discoverer development

Responsibilities include:

  • Meet with/host workshops with client Business product owners and users on all levels to gather reporting requirements, challenge these requirements where necessary and document these into report specifications
  • Stakeholder identification (working with Product Owners). Workshops will be initiated by the BA's; at times it may be the first contact client staff have had with the new programme
  • Interface closely with the BI technical team and business users during the development of reports
  • Perform testing QA upon reports; and also QA the output from the other BA's in the team
  • Create processes for BA tasks, and input to process development for both the internal BI team and for client interaction with BI team.
  • Liaise with other BAs etc. across the rest of the programme as necessary to understand what is happening in the transactional system; quite often the operational reporting is to fill in gaps that have not yet been met by the transactional system.
  • Understand the regulatory reporting requirements that the client has to comply with; be involved in gap analysis when these items are not captured; as well as assist in the compilation of these reports.
  • Interface with Business BA's in the BI team, helping and guiding if necessary and generally providing the benefit of BI experience.
  • Helping the client Product Owners with input to strategy decisions on the direction of BI
  • Inputting to the security model and rolling out of user/role/report

Essential

  • Track record of working in fast paced Agile programme environment as a Business Intelligence Analyst.
  • Proven experience of analysing business information requirements, identifying dependencies, risks and issues and producing clear and concise written specifications, often to demanding deadlines.
  • Expereience of programme and project management.
  • A creative problem solver with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in the use of a range of Busienss Intelligence tools.
