Job Description

Case Team Investigator - INSIDE IR35 - 6 months

Great opportunity has arisen for an experienced contract lawyer to work as part of a small team investigating firms and connected individuals with an initial 6 months contract. This is a high-profile role and will give great experience working within this leading organisation.

You will join an investigation team to assist with one or more ongoing investigations. You will be assisting with various tasks including evidence gathering, electronic evidence reviews, interviews with investigation subjects and others, drafting case papers and presenting to decision-makers and stakeholders.

You must be a qualified lawyer with a valid practising certificate issued by the Solicitors Regulation Authority for England and Wales (if a solicitor), or the General Council of the Bar for England and Wales (if a barrister)

  • Have some financial services experience
  • Have litigation and/or alternative dispute resolution experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Have strong analysis skills, including being able to review and evaluate information, being quick to identify relevant evidence and identify evidential gaps
  • Be able to assist Manager in developing case strategy, including identifying key risks and putting in place solutions
  • Be capable of forming sound conclusions, exercising their own judgement and defending those judgements where necessary and appropriate
  • Have strong drafting skills, and be able to draft high quality reports and papers summarising findings and issues arising, in a clear, concise and compelling manner
  • Be able to articulate complex findings in both written and oral presentations
  • Take a thorough and methodical approach to work, demonstrating a high attention to detail
  • Be able to research and understand the legal and regulatory framework and evaluate how evidence sits within it
  • Be able to work as part of an investigation team, supporting team goals and working
  • collaboratively to achieve those goals

It is desirable if the candidate has:

  • Experience in financial services investigations
  • Experience of conducting evidence reviews using electronic evidence management systems
  • Knowledge of responsibilities of the responsibilities and practices of the FCA and Enforcement
