Job Description

Communications Officer - Edinburgh - 6 months

Communications Officer required in Edinburgh for an initial 6 month contract starting ASAP. The Communications Officer is responsible for delivering the communication and engagement strategy for the final year of a wide-scale programme across the organisation.

You will play a key role in maintaining an established communications and engagement programme including regular stakeholder updates, raising awareness of the project, sharing knowledge and understanding, communicating the project's successes and lessons learned. The post holder will be communicating with staff and students as well as stakeholders involved in the delivery of the project working closely with the Directorate Communications Manager.

Responsibilities will include -

  • Maintaining the current level of communications and engagement activity, working to support the conclusion of the project and a move to business as usual
  • Leading the communications programme to support the production and dissemination of guidance
  • Supporting the project team by providing administrative support for internal and user facing meetings and events
  • Collaborating on and commissioning graphic design, media snippets

Essential skill required include (but are not limited to) -

  • Adept at assimilating complex technical information and effectively communicating key messages to a range of audiences
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders from different backgrounds
  • Confidence in working with multiple and changing priorities in a flexible way
  • Experience of maintaining a website and databases (various)
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, desk-top publishing software and web-editing software
  • Experience of using social media e.g. Twitter, blogs etc
