Contract. 6 Months. Edgware

Developer required urgently in Edgware. Your prime responsibility will be to lead on the ongoing development and maintenance of websites as well as the internal intranet. You need to have previous experience of working to and meeting GDS (Government Digital Service) standards. This role supports the development of educational materials and resources.

The role

  • Your prime responsibility will be to lead on the ongoing development and maintenance of the websites using modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • You will also work with the Digital development team on the corporate Intranet. You will support the Intranet developers as well as the Product Owner, Scrum Master and content developers with the maintenance of current intranet and future development of an exciting new intranet
  • Produce and further develop the ASP.NET masterpages and to ensure seamless integration with the bespoke CMS and Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Develop functional and technical specification documentation for websites and corporate Intranet
  • Advise on best practice in web development, integrations and content management frameworks
  • Enhance and further develop the corporate intranet solution into a more collaborative environment driven by clear user needs and adhering to the Digital by Default Service Standard
  • Develop and customise intranet-based solutions with social tools that will help to organise, structure, find and re-use content with an easy to use web interface across web and mobile devices
  • Develop custom features leveraging available open source modules for social networking, feeds & aggregation and enterprise-grade search.
  • Conduct testing of changes, this may include technical, accessibility, usability and user acceptance testing

Skills and Experience required

  • Experience in the use of front-end web design and development technologies, including Modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience and knowledge of web development technologies: ASP.NET, SQL Server
  • Experience of working with Microsoft SharePoint 2010, 2013 or 2016
  • Experience in using tools to validate CSS and HTML and cross-browser testing to ensure adherence to Government guidelines
  • Experience of developing and maintaining W3C WAI-compliant accessible websites
  • Understanding of responsive web design
  • Knowledge of using and configuring web servers, preferably IIS
  • Experience of designing wireframes or other mock-ups and developing them as prototypes
  • Experience and knowledge of the principles and practices of agile development and the project lifecycle
