Director of Data Science

£120,000 - £170,000

A global AI consultancy startup are looking for a leader in AI and Machine Learning to take on the position of Director of Data Science in their recently opened London office.

Working across countless industries and domains, you will travel across Europe to consult with clients, and to represent the company. With the opportunity to lead the team at an early stage, you will participate in hiring and building a team around you, whilst retaining a hands on approach with a state of the art AI powered research engine.

What you will do

  • Lead and manage a team of Data Scientist to establish a high performing site
  • Provide guidance, strategy and oversight for data-related aspects
  • Identity, establish and maintain engaging partner and vendor relationships, ensuring the companies data asset and business value is unique, relevant and actionable
  • Be the face of the company and product, representing the company on various occasions, and directly interfacing with our partners across Europe
  • Participate in the hiring and recruiting efforts
  • Work closely with internal global teams including R&D, Operation, Business Development and Data Science to identify, design, build and deploy compelling capabilities with technology and processes

What you will need

  • An MS/ MSc in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field (Ph.D is an advantage)
  • Management experience in managing Machine Learning/Data Science teams and large-scale projects
  • Customer facing experience and excellent presentation and storytelling skills
  • Hands-on experience with Machine Learning techniques (classification, regressions, feature selection etc.)
  • Programming skills that allow you to be self-sufficient in handling data (Python, SQL, Scala, Java)
  • Hands-on experience with large datasets and distributed computing (Hive/Hadoop, Spark)
  • Hands-on experience with statistical tools or packages (R / RapidMiner / Scikit)
