Information Governance Officer

Contract. 5 Months+. Wolverhampton. Public Sector. Healthcare

Information Governance Officer required urgently in Wolverhampton. You assist the Information Governance & Assurance Manager in the delivery of the agreed policy in regard of Information Governance including provision of specialist advice and guidance on Information Governance matters and complying with associated requirements of ISO 27001 and PSN.

The role

  • To assist staff in understanding and applying policy relating to Information Governance legislation and standards which will typically include the Data Protection Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and BS ISO 27001/2 (Information Security).
  • Provide support to employees, Elected Members and other relevant parties by responding to queries, problems and requests in a timely fashion and providing innovative solutions to sometimes complex or unusual problems.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the audits of key systems and processes to ensure compliance with Information Governance policy and guidance and the NHS toolkit
  • Monitor and keep up to date with changes to legislation, case law, official guidance, decision notices and anything else that affects Information Governance matters and may impact upon local practice and procedures.
  • Provide up to date, accurate information, advice and guidance to members of the public relating to their rights of access to information and provide any information sought within statutory deadlines in respect of requests for information made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations 2004, Data Protection Act 1998 and related legislation.
  • Assist in the maintenance of systems for the purposes of managing, monitoring and reporting on access to information requests.
  • To attend meetings, participate in project boards and working group and other internal forums and provide expert advice on Information Governance matters.
  • To investigate any incidents in relation to information security and to recommend appropriate action.
