Job Description

IT Engineer - Laptops, PC's,Tablets etc

London. Public Health Client. 2 Months initally. £22p/d Through Umbrella.

IT Engineer required in London. You will be responsible for the overall management of specialist assistive communication software and equipment (laptops, PC's, tablets inc. peripheral equipment) for the service.

The role

  • To be responsible for the preparation of devices; installing, programming and customising software for patients specific needs in accordance with the Therapist's requirements
  • To be responsible for the removal of personalised software and patient identifiable information when assessment / loan stock is returned using service protocol
  • To be responsible for decontamination of equipment returned after assessment or loan following service infection control protocol
  • To be responsible for; ongoing software upgrades, preventative / ongoing maintenance of equipment and servicing of software. This includes providing remote support when appropriate.
  • To trouble-shoot software problems and develop links with providers as appropriate
  • To respond to telephone calls, emails, and patients that have queries regarding their assistive communication devices in relation to software and programming
  • To ensure devices have regular planned generic and specialist software updates as required
  • To stay up to date with new products and best available prices

Skills and experience

  • Degree in an IT specialism or equivalent technical experience of problem solving and fault tracing and using/ supporting hardware / software packages
  • ITIL Foundation qualification
  • Using a wide range of IT application, Windows/office, including Windows 8
  • Installing and uninstalling software
  • Management of virus/malware software
  • Ability to document work carried out legibly and in English
  • In depth understanding and proven use of Windows NT, XP Professional and Active Directory
  • Understanding of the ITIL Framework
  • Understanding of Patient Management Systems
  • Knowledge and experience of IOS and ability to update, install and set up accessibility features
  • Skilled in Microsoft office and ability to design and generate reports in excel
  • Manage accurate database of equipment used for assessment and prescribed equipment
  • Understand need to clean and maintain equipment
