Job Description

Lead Developer - Digital Transformation, Design Authority, DevOps, Agile required for 12 months' contract based in Edinburgh

  • Passionate about software engineering, and usable, accessible user interfaces
  • Considerable commercial experience in software development
  • Significant role in delivering or leading maintainable software development projects
  • End to end project lifecycle experience on a number of software development projects
  • Practical experience of introducing new efficient processes or concepts in the development environment
  • Ability to work to tight time scales in a commercially driven environment
  • Knowledge of refactoring techniques
  • Experience managing risk and technical debt in software, in rapidly changing technology ecosystems
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts, collect and refine new skills as required
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Demonstrable experience of actively being a team player
  • Experience using tools to support rapid development, iteration and delivery
  • Ability to mentor other developers
  • Committed to good quality testing in practice
  • Ability to design and implement robust and maintainable technology architecture
  • Experience working in the Agile delivery models - such as Scrum and/or Kanban frameworks, together with XP engineering practices
  • Experience implementing the Microservice architecture pattern
  • Experience using TDD and/or BDD methodology in practice to drive development
  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment
  • Experience building modern web applications
  • Experience designing and implementing REST services
  • Experience developing using Java and/or Python
  • Experience with git, gradle, Jenkins, artifactory
  • Experience with spring, riot, redux
  • In-depth knowledge of testing tools for unit testing
  • Experience using system test automation framework
  • Demonstrable skill in building responsive interfaces for a wide range of devices and browsers
  • Experience using Docker
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  • Experience using Linux as a developer
