PURPOSE OF JOB:

To support all ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems

To assist in the design and development of all ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems to meet the needs of the business



MAIN ACTIVITIES:
Service scope including, but not limited to LAN / WAN (e.g. Cisco Routers, ASA Firewalls, Switches, MPLS, WiFi, Third party links), Internet / Remote Access (e.g. VPN, SSL connectivity, load-balancing, resilient services, LAMP), Unix Infrastructure (e.g. DNS, Squid, reverse proxies, LAMP, TFTP, FTP, LDAP, Kerberos, SQL, Postfix, iptables, samba, PKI), Fixed and Mobile Telephone Systems (e.g. NEC Phillips, Unexus, PABX maintenance, GSM Gateways, Open-Source telephony, Legacy PBXs), VoIP (e.g. Cisco Call Manager, Unity, Presence, Tiger call manager reporting, Asterisk, Cloud-hosted services, SIP trunking, voice gateways), Call Centre (e.g. UCCX, Unexus, Asterisk, Cloud-based call centres), Network Security Systems (e.g. IPS, IDS, Nessus, NAC, Apache, nmap, metasploit), other open source systems

Proactively identify changes required to ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems and ensure that the activity is carried out.

Carry out installation, integration, testing and maintenance of ICT network, telecommunications and network secuirty systems ensuring all quality, asset management and configuration management processes are followed. Liaise with line management, Service Delivery teams and Service Desk to ensure all changes are communicated and understood by colleagues and staff.

Update and maintain documentation for ICT network, telecommunications and network security management procedures and the current / future ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems architecture.

Create, configure and update ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems in line with notified changes in accordance the ICT change control procedures.

Procure via line management new ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems infrastructure and software in accordance with the procurement procedures.

Deliver an ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems service to the performance requirements of the team, providing regular reports to line management.

Provide information and reports for recharging as and when required.

Identify needs, specify work packages and oversee the work of third party support, technicians and other officers assigned to the ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems team.

Sign off quality of external work and pass to line manager or finance administration team for payment of invoice or recharge to business unit.

Provide ad hoc system reports for projects or other service delivery requirements when requested.

Assist in the development of ICT data network, telecommunications and network systems security policy, ensuring this is consistently applied. Recommend and implement security measures as appropriate to ensure the security and availability of the systems.

Monitor ICT network, telecommunications systems for security incidents, identifying breaches and recommending appropriate action.

Support and provide input to audit reviews and ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems standards compliance regimes e.g. Government Connect Code of Connection.

Document all production, support and development activity and handover new support processes / documentation to the supporting teams.

Provide training/coaching other ICT officers on ICT network, telecommunications and network security systems architecture, management systems and support processes.
