Online Course Design Manager - TEL - Contract - Leeds

3 Month Contract - Inside IR35

As an Online Course Design Manager you will be involved with supporting the digital service with all aspects of the operational management of a busy and dynamic team.

As an Online Course Design Manager you will be responsible for;

  • Responsible for maintaining and adhering to schedules, project plans and defined resources allocation
  • Working with the Service Manager to respond to bids by defining, scoping and costing pedagogically robust online and blended learning programmes;
  • Working with the Service Manager, Course Design Managers, subject matter experts and other stakeholders to define, scope and design pedagogically robust online and blended learning journeys;
  • Working with the Service Manager to explore new opportunities for online learning, manage and recruit course design teams and deliver the team's outputs;
  • Overseeing and quality assuring the design and production of pedagogically appropriate e-learning activities, assessment models, interactive learning experiences and robust collaborative learning opportunities;
  • Providing leadership, operational and line management of the Course Design Managers supporting professional development and assuring the quality and timeliness of outputs;
  • Managing new digital learning projects as they develop as strategic priorities, building effective internal and external partnerships to ensure the development and delivery of digital learning projects
  • Managing content and course production ensuring that the functionality is in line with instructional design principles
  • Overseeing the team's use of external and internal learning platforms, including liaison with platform representatives
  • Working within agreed budgets and overseeing expenditure
  • As a member of the Management Team support the development of the digital learning service

Experience and knowledge required;

  • Experience of formal staff line management with ability to motivate and develop teams of people to develop and deliver high quality online digital learning resources and courses
  • Proven ability to initiate, develop and maintain effective working relationships with decision makers, external partners and other stakeholders
  • Evidence of working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to define, scope and design learning programme
  • Experience of working with a wide range of learning technology platforms, learning management systems, tools and services
  • Evidence of managing and quality assuring the application of up-to-date and sound instructional design principles in an educational environment
  • Experience of working collaboratively as part of a management team
  • Proven experience of managing a number of projects concurrently to strict time scales and defined budgets
  • A strong command of the English language with proven ability to review, edit and quality assure content to ensure suitability for the online learning environment
  • The ability to plan own workload, make decisions about priorities and meet deadlines without compromising quality in a challenging and fast moving environment
  • A clear understanding and awareness of accessibility and copyright issues
