Job Description

Programme Director/12 weeks / Edinburgh / £450 - £500 per day Inside IR35

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Programme Director with our public-sector client for a 12 weeks contract £450 - £500 per day based in Edinburgh.

Candidate for this role will oversee a programme of work to deliver the objectives

Main duties:

  • Accountable to the Programme Board for the delivery of programme objectives to time and within budget
  • Providing leadership and clear direction to an experienced multi functional delivery team ensuring barriers to delivery are addressed and key decisions are made in a timely manner
  • Leading stakeholder workshops and other engagement events with the Clinical Lead
  • Directing the development of key control documents and strategies to underpin the programme management framework; working closely with the programme manager to achieve this
  • Defining criteria for control and management of the programme and controlling changes following approval
  • Establishing formal reporting arrangements on programme progress including regular briefings with SRO


  • Significant experience of leading and delivering major transformational change programmes in health and care
  • Thorough understanding of recognised best practice project and programme management techniques and methodologies
  • Leading and directing multi functional delivery teams to ensure programme objectives are met on time and within budget
  • Ability to take decisions on difficult and contentious issues where there maybe a number of courses of action
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in the absence of clear guidelines or precedent, seeking advice as necessary from SRO
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to communicate on highly complex matters and difficult situations
  • Flexibility, and the ability to handle a rapidly changing and ambiguous environment
  • Ability to write executive level and public facing reports succinctly and clearly
  • Educated to Masters Degree or equivalent with an appropriate postgraduate or professional qualification / membership in a relevant area of knowledge, or equivalent significant management and leadership experience
  • Formal programme and project management qualifications including Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)
