Programme Director / Senior Programme Manager / Contract / £550-£600 Per Day / 6 Months / PRINCE2 /


Programme Director/ senior programme manager for a large public-sector client who is looking for someone with an experienced and polished background. The PM role will be primarily allocated to a Programme focused on refurbishment and reconfiguration.
Main duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for achieving the programme's vision and responsible for its success.
  • Leads the programme, providing clear leadership and direction throughout its life
  • Responsible for the set up and operation of the programme's governance arrangements, ensuring it's aligned to the institutions governance arrangements.
  • Responsible for benefits definition and realisation to the expected outcomes / KPIs, ensuring that the programme's outcomes are translated into the design of end-state processes, business capabilities, and organisation/team structures and ways of working.
  • Oversees the key strategic risks arising from the programme and ensures appropriate mitigation.
  • Oversees the resourcing strategy for the programme, working with the HR Manager, Programme Manager and Faculty / Service Managers to ensure the programme is appropriately resourced.
  • Manages the interface with key senior stakeholders, keeping them engaged and informed.
  • Visibly seen to champion the programme.
  • Responsible for assurance of the initiative
  • Responsible for the programme's 'roadmap' and prioritisation of deliverables in achieving initiative's outcomes.
  • Matrix manages programme level resources including but not limited to the Senior Project Manager and Estates Senior Supplier.
  • A degree or professional qualification, proficient and qualified in MS Project, Prince2, Managing Successful Programmes and APM Body of Knowledge and RIBA.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required, consistent with the grade of the post.



Person Specification
As the Senior Programme Manager/Programme Director, you will have been educated to degree level and you will also have:-

  • An extensive and proven track record of successful leadership including delivery of substantial business transformation change programmes including construction projects with £multi-million budgets and responsible for managing headcounts of 20 plus.
  • Comfortable in scoping and designing the programme of work as well as implementing processes, organisation structures and people capabilities needed to satisfy the programme's outcomes.
  • The ability to work confidently and assertively with a range of executive and senior stakeholders, using coaching, negotiating, communication and influencing skills to achieve successful outcomes.
  • An ability to bring the envisioned future state to life, eliciting the support of all stakeholders in achieving the vision.
  • Experience of managing external parties including suppliers and other partners.
  • Ability to be flexible, creative and self-motivated in approaching complex institutional issues, with an ability to ensure delivery of real measurable benefits through strong organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of Higher Education including the external challenges and opportunities facing the sector as well as an ability to challenge accepted norms.
  • Knowledge of change management methodologies.
