Milton Keynes - 9 months (£285 Per Day)

The PCO will be expected to develop and maintain good relationships with their wider customer base as well as within the PM community. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic, self-motivated individual who wishes to develop their financial, business and organizational skills.

What you will be responsable for:

  • Ensuring adherence to the client Services GDT programme and project standards across all projects
  • Assisting the PM and project teams in the development, production and maintenance of project plans
  • Developing and maintaining the project library, filing, recording and reporting systems
  • Co-ordination of the production of all project specific reports
  • Set up and maintain the project on PRISM ensuring costs are properly recorded
  • Assist the project team members in the application of project procedures, disciplines and recording and reporting standards
  • Maintain risk and issue logs
  • Develop and support effective communication channels between project team members
  • Assist in the organization of key stakeholder events
  • Setting up and maintaining project financials on Prism
  • Ensuring P3O standards and governance is adhered to
  • Dealing with Ad Hoc project finance queries
  • Resolution of committed costs outstanding on projects
  • Documentation and asset detail lodging with CMDB
  • Updating of MS Project plans (MS Project )
  • Ensure quality plans are being adhered to
  • Escalation to Head of Programmes of missed/outstanding project issues/reporting


Overview Description:

The provision of support and guidance on portfolio, programme and project management processes, procedures, tools and techniques. Support includes definition of portfolios, programmes, and projects; advice on the development, production and maintenance of business cases; time, resource, cost and exception plans, and the use of related software tools. Tracking and reporting of programme/project progress and performance are also covered, as is the capability to facilitate all aspects of portfolio/ programme/ project meetings, workshops and documentation.

  • Level 3: Uses recommended project control solutions for planning, scheduling and tracking projects. Sets up project files, compiles and distributes reports. Provides administrative services to project boards, project assurance teams and quality review meetings. Provides guidance on project management software, procedures, processes, tools and techniques.

  • Level 4: Takes responsibility for the provision of Project support services to small/medium scale projects. Uses and recommends project control solutions for planning, scheduling and tracking projects. Sets up and provides detailed guidance on project management software, procedures, processes, tools and techniques.


Supports programme or project control boards, project assurance teams and quality review meetings. Provides basic guidance on individual project proposals. May be involved in aspects of supporting a programme by providing a cross programme view on risk, change, quality, and finance or configuration management.

Experience required

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience of managing project financials
  • PPSO, P3O experience or accreditations
  • IT literate with extensive practical experience of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Motivated, self starter who can work without close supervision
  • Experience of working within a secure government environment

  • APM Fundamentals of Project Management
  • Certificate in Programme and Project Support Essentials (or advanced)
  • Agile delivery exposure or experience
  • Prince2 or structured Project methods
  • Prince2 Practitioner
  • Other equivalents
