Job Description

My Public Sector Client based in London are looking for a Project Manager to take responsibility for driving and overseeing the delivery of a project to ensure objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.

This is a key role in project governance and working across HMG to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.

Assignment deliverables are as follows:

Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.

Day-to-day management and leadership of the project and any project team members. Set project controls. Design the project structure appropriate to the stage. Select and apply appropriate delivery methodologies.

Develop and draft the Business Case.

Build the project plan and apply appropriate project principles to deliver stated objectives. Identify and set appropriate project controls. Track and report delivery against milestones.

Track delivery of the project within budget.

Ensure an appropriate benefits realisation strategy is in place.

Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships.

Identify project risks and issues. Manage mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate.

Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making.

Support or set appropriate project assurance.

Ensure effective change management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.

Show commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance.

All deliverables will be produced to a quality standard aligned to industry recognised requirement management practice.

All deliverables have been commissioned by and will be presented to the Project Lead for final approval and acceptance.

Essential:

Proven experience in a professional Programme/Project Management role

Desirable

Industry-recognised Programme and Project Management (PPM) qualification:

PRINCE2 Practitioner

Agile Project Management Practitioner

APM Project Management Qualification

APM Practitioner Qualification.

Knowledge

Good understanding of project or programme management methodologies, tools and techniques including: requirements management, planning, scheduling, resource management, budgeting and cost management, risk and issue management, quality management, governance, frameworks and methodologies, stakeholder engagement, assurance, change control and benefits management.

Understanding of other project or programme management methodologies, tools and techniques including: commercial and procurement, solutions development, business change and implementation, business case development, asset allocation and knowledge management.

Familiarity with external applicable quality standards.

Understanding of the need to maintain a practical and pragmatic approach to standards compliance.

Experience of planning.
