Service Design and Transition Manager - Contract - Milton Keynes

4 Month Contract - £400 - £450pd

As a Service Design and Transition Manager is responsible for the development of innovative service solutions, the successful transition of products and services into service support and the ongoing assurance of services in collaboration with new and existing customers.
This is a key role in enabling SGS to build a successful and sustainable service organisation which manages a defined set of global and regional services.

As a Service Design and Transition Manager you will be responsible for;

  • Working with project teams to ensure that Acceptance into Service criteria is considered at project inception. Engaging with project managers and regional portfolio managers to maximise delivery efficiency and ensure that the utilisation of the regional teams is actively promoted.
  • Working closely with the central planning and commercial teams to translate global project demand into regional design and transition plans. Working with the Regional Portfolio Managers to ensure that an appropriate level of acceptance into service criteria is agreed early in the project lifecycle and then managed through to transition into delivery teams.
  • Responsible for service design, service catalogue, service transition, operational readiness and acceptance into service.
  • Establishment of close working relationships with both UK and Regional teams, with this role providing a key interface between the service delivery, project and commercial teams.
  • Lead on the definition and design of new operational processes to ensure that the appropriate level of governance is in place to manage changes to existing and implementation of new services.
  • Coordinate regional input into the service design and transition processes ensuring that regional service delivery teams have the capability, visibility and funding to support new and changed service designs.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of service governance processes, ensuring that both regional management teams and UK based delivery functions have visibility of progress.

Experience required;


  • Experience of defining and implementing process frameworks to support the delivery of Global services
  • Experience of managing the delivery of change in relation to non IT services
  • Experience of managing the delivery of risk management
  • ITIL foundation certificate (or willingness to complete training within the first 6 months)
  • Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
  • Excellent planning skills with ability to work to defined schedules
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written


  • ITIL Expert Qualified and a excellent knowledge of the ITIL Framework
  • Understanding or experience of FCO Services overseas delivery.
  • Experience and knowledge of ITIL best practice to Expert level
  • Process design and re-engineering experience
  • Experience of ISO 9001
  • Prior experience of working within a business critical ITIL based service
  • Excellent Microsoft PowerPoint /Excel skills
