Social Researcher - 9 Month Contract - £17-£19 an hour

The Role

A key client of mine in the Public sector based in Hampshire are currently in the market for a Social Researcher on an initial 9-month contract basis paying £17-£19 an hour through an umbrella company. The successful candidate would need to be DS cleared or able to go through Disclosure Scotland.

Skills and Experience

  • A good degree (minimum 2:1) in social research, psychology or other discipline with a substantial social research content. Clearly demonstrated equivalent experience and knowledge may be acceptable by exception.
  • An aptitude for research and qualitative analysis
  • An interest in survey theory and its practical applications, and new developments in the field
  • An eye for detail and inquisitive nature, with a curiosity to understand how things work and why, and a desire to learn
  • An innovative and proactive approach to developing new methods and applications
  • An ability to deliver high-quality outputs to specified deadlines
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • An ability to communicate effectively, presenting results of research orally and in writing using a range of formats, and to different audiences

Essentials
A 2:1 degree in social research, psychology or other discipline with a substantial social research content.
By exception, a different qualification may be acceptable if accompanied by equivalent knowledge gained through experience.

Desirable

A post-graduate qualification in social research or psychology, or containing research in a related area

  • Has knowledge and experience of the main qualitative and quantitative research techniques with some applied experience.
  • Has good knowledge of the research methodology and the latest techniques and ability to apply these to small scale projects.
  • Ability to summarise and interpret information accurately, making use of different sources.
    Ability to report research information clearly in writing.
  • Tailors approach and frames research outputs in a way that is directly relevant to customers' needs.
