Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Systems Support Developer with our public-sector client based in Dundee £30.162 - £32.931 per annum

In this role, you provide support to Service Desk colleagues and will be responsible for specifying and developing new systems as well as maintaining and operating existing ones.

Main duties:

  • Engage with staff and ICT colleagues as required to provide resolutions to incidents, faults and enquiries raised in the service desk
  • Assist in the deployment and configuration of systems as required
  • Development of maintenance scrips and routines to be used in the management of databases and associated data.
  • Design, develop, maintain and document middleware/libraries in the line with existing standards and working practices to allow client's data stored in database systems to be accessed by inhouse and third-party applications and systems

Essential Skills:

  • Experience developing in at least one current programming language
  • Experience developing web applications using ASP.NET
  • Experience developing web applications using a JavaScript framework such as Angular, Vue, React
  • Experience with database design and development
  • An understanding of formal software development processes
  • An understanding of project management methodologies
  • An understanding of code management / version control systems
  • A demonstrable record of recent professional updating
  • A Degree or equivalent experience in an appropriate technical discipline related to software development

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience developing in C#
  • Experience developing web applications using Asp.net core
  • Experience developing web applications using Vue.js
  • Experience building and managing Microsoft SQL Server relational databases
  • Experience working as part of a development team (ideally in an HE or FE setting)
  • Experience undertaking requirements analysis activities and managing stakeholder engagement
  • Experience producing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Experience using Git and Visual Studio Team Services
  • Professional qualifications, e.g.:
    • ITIL v3 certification
    • Prince2 certification
    • Microsoft qualification
