Transformation Programme Manager

Contract. 6 Months +. Manchester. £650-£700 P/D Public Sector (Outside of IR35 Scope)

Transformation Programme Manager required in London for an expected long term contact. As Transformation Programme Manager you will manage the interface between the business and digital development team in a critical programme of change for the organasation. The role requires effective co-ordination of the programme's projects and management of their inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising, and identification and tracking of projected benefits.

The role:

  • Working with the appropriate directors to design and plan the programme and proactively monitoring its progress
  • Defining, establishing and supporting the programme's governance arrangements and interface with the wider corporate governance mechanisms and approval responsibilities (including digital spend controls)
  • Ensuring the overall integrity of the programme, including benefits identification and monitoring
  • Managing dependencies and interfaces between related internal projects
  • Managing and reporting risks and issues to the programme's successful outcome
  • Reporting the progress of the programme at regular intervals to the transformation steering group, director and the Board
  • Ensuring appropriate communication and liaison between staff engaged in programme activities
  • Acting as a key contact point for the programme and liaising and networking within the Institute and with external partners
  • Working with the communications team to develop and maintain a communication and stakeholder management strategy for the programme

Knowledge and experience

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices related to programme management and transformation, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience
  • Demonstrable practical knowledge of programme and project management methods such as Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) and PRINCE2 or equivalent supported by qualifications as appropriate
  • Significant experience of deploying techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programmes including:
    • Experience of benefits tracking
    • Experience of budgeting and resource allocation
    • Experience of co-ordinating and managing multiple complex projects
    • Experience managing the interface between business and digital development team
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences and to generate trust and confidence in individuals at all levels both within and outside the organisation
    • Effective and persuasive communicator, with a high degree of personal credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the programme
    • Ability to engage effectively with a range of colleagues and stakeholders, both internally and externally
    • Sound business case development and approvals skills
    • Discretion in handling confidential information
